Outcome 4 Promoting Agrobiodiversity Policies

Outcome 4 Promoting Agro-Biodiversity Policies

Outcome 4:  Government policies promote ABD conservation and sustainable use, and land management, for improved food security and livelihoods in upland communities

TABI seeks to influence and promote government policies that support agro-biodiversity. For example, TABI has directly contributed to the forest law by advocating the inclusion of a ‘bush-fallow’ land use, and provides key expertise to a range of bodies tasked with implementing and updating policies related to land such as the National Assembly, MAF, MONRE, and PAFOs. TABI continues to work with the Government of Lao to develop policies that promote agro-biodiversity conservation and sustainable use, and land management for improved food security and livelihoods in upland communities. The key outputs under outcome four are:

  1. CBD Secretariat coordinating the implementation of the CBD and its NBSAP.
  2. ABD and livelihood inserted, discussed and acted upon in ‘sector development’ platforms.
  3. ABD concerns integrated into improved agricultural and forestry and lands policies, legal framework and mechanisms.
